Short Story of Bragging Grasshopper with Morals – Download PDF Copy

Once upon a time, there lived a little grasshopper named Greg in a big green meadow. Greg was the best jumper in the whole meadow and loved to show off his jumping skills to all his friends. Every day, he jumped farther and higher than anyone else and bragged about it constantly.

“Look at me! I’m the world’s greatest jumper!” Greg would proudly say as he hopped around.

But his friends were tired of Greg’s bragging. They rolled their eyes and grumbled to each other whenever Greg started boasting. They wished he would just be humble and play with them instead of always talking about himself.

One day, an old wise ant named Andy heard Greg bragging again. Andy decided it was time to teach Greg a lesson in humility.

“Hey Greg,” Andy called as he approached the proud grasshopper. “I bet you can’t jump over that big rock over there.”

Greg’s eyes sparkled with excitement. He loved a challenge. “Of course I can!” he shouted confidently.

So Greg backed up, took a running start, and jumped as high as he could. But to his surprise, he stumbled and missed the rock, landing in the dirt with a thud.

His friends gasped in disbelief, and Greg felt embarrassed and ashamed. He had never failed at jumping before.

Andy approached Greg with a comforting smile. “It’s okay, Greg. We all make mistakes sometimes. It’s not about being the best at everything; it’s about being kind and humble.”

Greg realized he had been so focused on bragging and showing off that he forgot to be a good friend. From that day on, he stopped boasting and started listening to his friends more. And even though he wasn’t always the best jumper in the meadow, he became the happiest grasshopper because he learned an important lesson about humility.

The moral of the story is: It’s not about being the best, but about being humble and kind to others.
