Short Story of The Ants And The Grasshopper with Morals – Download PDF Copy

Once upon a bright and windy summer day, there lived a happy grasshopper who loved to play his violin. While he played delightful songs and danced, a group of ants nearby worked hard, gathering food for the winter. The grasshopper hopped over and laughed, “Why are you working so hard? Come dance and play with me!”

But the leader of the ants, a wise old ant with big glasses, shook his head and replied, “We must gather food for the cold winter days. Winter is harsh, and there will be no food around. You should prepare too.”

The grasshopper just laughed, “Oh, there’s plenty of time for that! Winter is far away. I want to play now!” And he continued to play his violin while the ants kept working.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Soon, the warm sun was replaced by cold winds and snow. The grasshopper, shivering and hungry, remembered the ants. He dragged himself to their anthill, hoping they could share some food.

The grasshopper knocked on their little door and pleaded, “Please, dear ants, could you spare some food? I’m hungry and cold.”

The ants welcomed him in and gave him warmth and food. Grateful, the grasshopper asked, “How did you manage to gather so much food?”

The wise old ant replied, “We worked hard during the summer to prepare for times like this. It’s important to think ahead and be prepared.”

The grasshopper learned his lesson. He promised that from now on, he would always prepare for the future and not just live in the moment. The following summer, he played his music and helped the ants gather food.

Moral of the story: Always be prepared. Work today and reap the rewards tomorrow!
