Once upon a time, in a small Dutch village surrounded by green fields and windmills, there lived a young boy named Kees. Kees loved cheese more than anything else in the world. His family made cheese from the milk of their cows, which happily grazed in the fields.
One day, Kees decided he wanted more cheese than his family could produce. He thought that if he could get more milk, he could make more cheese. So, Kees went to his neighbor, who also had cows, and asked if he could borrow some milk.
The neighbor agreed, but with one condition: Kees had to take care of the cows for the day. Kees was so excited about getting more milk that he agreed without thinking about the hard work involved.
The next day, Kees woke up early and went to the neighbor’s farm. He quickly realized that taking care of cows was not as easy as he had thought. It was a long day of feeding, cleaning, and making sure the cows didn’t wander off. By the end of the day, Kees was exhausted and barely had enough energy to make the extra cheese.
When he finally made the cheese, it was indeed more than usual, but Kees was too tired to enjoy it. He learned an important lesson that day: it’s good to have ambitions, but you also need to appreciate what you already have and understand the effort required to achieve more.
From that day on, Kees willingly helped his family with the cows and was always grateful for the cheese they made.
Moral of the story: Always appreciate what you have and recognize the effort it takes to achieve more.
