Short Story of The Fox And The Crane with Morals – Download PDF Copy

Once upon a time, in a green forest full of birds and rustling leaves, there lived a cunning fox named Felix and a tall bird named Cora. With his bright red fur, Felix loved to play tricks on others, while Cora, with her long legs and even longer beak, was known for her friendliness and kindness.

One sunny day, Felix decided to have a little fun at Cora’s expense. He invited her to dinner, saying, “Dear Cora, I have prepared a delicious meal in my cave. Would you honor me by joining me for dinner tonight?” Cora, who believed in the goodness of everyone, readily accepted his invitation.

When Cora arrived, she saw Felix making soup. But here’s the trick: Felix served the soup on shallow plates. He quickly slurped up the soup with his sharp tongue, but poor Cora couldn’t drink it with her long beak. Felix laughed at her, finding it very amusing.

Cora was a bit sad but decided to teach Felix a gentle lesson. She invited Felix to her place the next night and promised him a dinner he would never forget. Felix, who loved to eat, eagerly agreed and was curious about what dinner at Cora’s house would be like.

The tables were turned at Cora’s house. She served the soup in tall, narrow jars. Cora could easily drink the soup with her long beak, but Felix couldn’t manage with his short snout. He tried and tried, growing hungrier and more frustrated by the minute.

Seeing Felix in trouble, Cora kindly said, “Felix, now you know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of a trick. How about we promise to always treat each other with respect and kindness?”

Felix, feeling slightly ashamed of his earlier behavior, nodded in agreement. “You’re right, Cora. Forgive my trickery. From now on, I’ll think about how others feel.”

From that day on, Felix and Cora became great friends. They always treated each other well, and Felix learned that true happiness comes from making others happy, not from making fun of them.

And the moral of the story is: Treat others as you would like to be treated, because kindness and respect are the keys to true friendship.
