There was once a king named Midas who loved gold more than anything else in the world. His palace was full of golden treasures, but he was never satisfied and always wanted more.
One day a magical fairy appeared and offered to grant him a wish. Enthusiastic King Midas wished that everything he touched would turn to gold. The genie warned him to think carefully, but Midas was too blinded by his greed. She waved her wand and his wish came true.
At first King Midas was happy. Flowers, chairs and books turned to gold with one touch. However, his luck soon turned to terror. As he embraced his beloved daughter at a party, she turned into a golden figure, lifeless and cold.
Heartbroken King Midas begged the genie to undo the magic. Seeing his misery and remorse, the fairy agreed to help. She told him to wash his hands in the river to change the golden touch. Midas did as he was told and everything, including his daughter, returned to normal.
From that day, King Midas learned to appreciate what he had and understood that the love of his family is more valuable than all the gold in the world.
Moral of the story: Greed can lead to loss. The most valuable treasures in life are the ones we love.
